Samson Unveiled

Past FNM Chair Mr Christopher Sanham and former Chair Mrs Francesca Makins (pictured) were delighted to be present at the unveiling of the restored Samson statue at the Museum of Norwich on the evening of Tuesday 2nd April 2019.

As you may be aware from local press, last year after being in storage since 1993, Samson, who stood guard with Hercules outside one of Norwich's most prestigious buildings in Tombland for almost 350 years, was taken to London for careful restoration and conservation to preserve the intricacies of the original 17th century carving.

FNM were among the first to contribute initial funding to start off the public crowd-funding campaign, facilitating the application for further funds from the Arts Fund, and have additionally supported the Museum of Norwich with funds for the interactive display of Samson, unveiled this week.
