BAFM South East Regional Day hosted in Norwich

BAFM South East Regional Day in Norwich

FNM is the oldest Museums Friends group in the Country having been established for almost a century, and are members of BAFM, The British Association of Friends of Museums. Former FNM Vice President and past Chairman, the late David Mawson was instrumental in helping to set up the Association.

It was FNM's pleasure on Saturday 16th August 2019 to host the BAFM South Eastern Regional Day at Norwich Castle, attended by representatives from groups across the region. The topic of the day was "The Future Role of Friends' Groups". FNM Chair, Mr Chris Sanham welcomed the delegates and spoke of common difficulties among Friends groups particularly in recruiting younger committee members to ensure continuity in functioning and supporting their local Museums into the future. The first speaker was Dr Robin Hanley, Assistant Head of the Norfoik Museums Service. He suggested Friends groups are an enormous asset and critical to many Museums.
